Fishing is one of the activities that men love and women simply don’t understand. It’s soothing, calming and it involves a lot of silence and doing basically nothing. It’s one of the most commonly practiced recreational activities (and sport activities for that matter) by Australian men. It puts you in a calm state of mind and you completely forget about the stress that everyday life brings. And even though I don’t go fishing as much as I’d like to anymore, because of family and work responsibilities, whenever I have a day off or some free time on my hands, I plan a fishing trip.
There are times however, when I don’t go fishing for a few months, which frankly drives me insane. So in order to satisfy my angling needs, I watch fishing shows online and on my TV. I love watching them as there’s always something new that I haven’t seen before. Plus, I can learn from fishing shows online much more as I can additionally google the stuff I didn’t understand.
There’s always this new piece of equipment that will leave you mind-boggled and a new technique you can learn. The people who run these shows fish for a living, so you can always learn a thing or two from them on how to improve your skills.
Furthermore, buying a brand new equipment could make your next fishing trip much more exciting and enjoyable. A new lure, a new pole or something along those lines will make you look forward to your next fishing trip. Perhaps the reason why a specific type of fish is not biting is exactly the lure, or the fact that you aren’t using the right bait, as different species prefer different types of food. Artificial bait sometimes beats worms and corn, the possibilities are endless.
A very important thing I’ve learned from a fishing show was how certain types of fish move. They don’t “hang” in random locations, instead, they follow patterns throughout the day and almost always stick to them. You can learn all of this just by watching shows like The Extreme Fishing Show by Robson Green, The World Fishing Network, The Ultimate Fishing Show by Matt Watson and so on and so forth. If you aren’t familiar with them, you should look them up online and you might stumble across your new favourite show. It’s never too late to learn and step up your game.
