Decorating a nursery room for your baby can be both an exciting and daunting task. This empty room will receive a whole new meaning once your new joy comes to this world, so you want to make sure it will be comfortable, safe and peaceful. And of course, you want to make all that on a budget. When I was decorating our nursery room, there were so many things that I wanted to buy – not because we needed all of them but because they were so cute. So yes, I know the sweet problem you might be facing right now, but hold on – there are so many important things you need to be equipped with first.
A place to change nappies
Right after the labor, it is not advisable to bend down so much, so you will need a changing table for your little one. There are a lot of different models of these home products for nursery rooms. When I was looking for one a few months ago, I found the piece that had it all – a changing table that had the double function of a bath. Yes, you can bathe and change your little one using the same unit.
The table features a thick padded top with a safety belt and raised sides of 10cm to keep the baby safe from rolling over and falling. When you want to bathe your baby, just lift the top and you’ll find the bathtub hidden inside along with a hose for easy falling. I found this item to be not just a great space saver but also a great organizer for my baby items. There are plenty of shelves on both sides where I keep all my baby essentials like clothes, diapers, wet wipes, pacifiers. Also, it comes with wheels for an easy moving which can be locked and secured preventing the unit from slipping, moving and shifting.
A place for sleeping
Your precious bundle of joy will need its own spot for sweet dreams. Also, you will need sheets, blankets, a mattress, and even a mattress protector. Choosing the right sleeping unit for your baby is one of the most important decisions as he/she will probably use it for the next two years. Therefore, it should be safe, comfortable, big enough and it should preferably match the rest of the decor in the room. When looking through the range of baby cribs you will find a few different types. Typically, the most popular one is the standard crib – it is sturdy and long lasting with a simple construction of four fixed sides. Also, it is durable so it is a perfect choice if you are planning to have more than one kid. It comes in different designs, a mix of materials and colourful finishes. Other types of cribs are convertible, bassinets, travel cribs, and mini cribs.
A place for storing items
Some cribs come with drawers so it is perfectly fine to buy such a model for additional storing space. Under-crib storage will keep the less frequently used items easily accessible but still out of sight. But still, you will need a whole new dresser for your baby. You will buy a lot of clothes and accessories throughout the years, so having a separate closet for your baby will help you to stay more organized. You can also invest in other baby home products such as a hamper for stashing dirty clothes until laundry day, and a toy chest to keep all your baby’s toys out of the way. Stackable bins are also great storage organizers as they keep your baby’s stuff without using a lot of floor space.
