Lately, I can’t help but think about how my bathroom desperately needs a change. Maybe it’s because of all the fancy decorating ideas I see on Instagram reels, or maybe it’s because I’m tired of my bathroom’s ordinariness and dullness.
Either way, I’ve made my research and I’ve found some pretty cool ideas on how to jazz up a bathroom without having to do a dramatic remodelling project and change the tiles or something. Replacing the tiles can be costly and time-consuming, and who has time for that these days, right?! This is what I’m considering to give the space a brand-new look.
Change the Bathroom Basin Tap
Basin taps are a necessity that also plays a huge role in the appearance of your bathroom. With thousands of designs and styles to choose from, the immense choice can cloud your decision-making and may lead to buying something unsuitable for your basin.
First things first, before buying anything, check the tap holes on the basin and then go shopping. This way, you can make sure that you buy something that can actually be installed on your sink.
Then, think about materials. There’s an array of contemporary, traditional, modern and breathtaking bathroom basin taps in all sorts of finishes. Chrome, brushed brass and matte black are the most popular finishes. But, the best thing is that over the last few years, it’s completely acceptable to mix and match the hardware. In other words, you won’t have to worry about choosing the exact finish like one of the shower head, rail and cabinet handles/knobs.
Whether you’re going for a modern, classic, chic or timeless look, you can mix cold and warm tone metals since it creates an effect that’s pleasant to the eye. Warm tone metals are copper, gold, brass and old-rubbed bronze while cool metals are polished black, nickel, chrome and brushed nickel.
Even though brass and matte black are among the most popular finishes for basin mixer taps, chrome-plated bathroom basin taps are still an all-time favourite among many people including me. This is because chrome has a shiny and reflective finish. On top of that, cleaning chrome is super easy. It’s also resistant to corrosion and scratches, meaning it’ll look great even after years of daily use and cleaning.
Refresh the Look with Art
Who says that the bathroom cannot show your personality and creativity?! Instead of looking at blank walls, you can easily change the entire look by adding creative wall art prints. Hanging wall art prints on the walls in will make this utilitarian room more like an actual living space and nothing like a place where you just go to get clean.
Abstract, botanical, nature-inspired prints, soothing landscape, figurative and even nude art are some of the many styles from which you can choose. But while picking out a theme is the most fun part, don’t overlook the importance of getting the right frame shape and material.
Another important thing to know is that you shouldn’t hang unframed art in your bathroom mainly because of moisture exposure. Instead, choose art prints that have sealed backs so no moisture and water drops can enter the frame.
Whether hanging the art prints or leaning them on a vanity or some shelf, it’s of vital importance to choose the right size. For instance, if you’re hanging only one art print on a large-sized wall, you have all the freedom to go bigger. I liked the idea of creating kind of a gallery wall, so I chose several smaller-sized artworks.
If this is your first time hanging art (like mine was), I recommend calling a friend for some help. Having an extra set of eyes and hands will help you try out different combos to create the most appealing gallery wall in the bathroom.
Add Some Greenery
A simple way to bring back life to your bathroom is by adding greenery in it. You can place some small potted plants on the vanity or shelving or hang them from the ceiling. Most plants love warm and humid places like the bathroom so you can easily add one to yours as well.
And for the greenery to always look fresh and like a lovely decor element, you can choose some of the many modern planters which have an integrated reservoir for helping plants get the needed amount of water whenever they want.
Get a New Bathmat
The purpose of bathmats is simple – to prevent slips and wet floors and to make your feet feel warm. However, they also have the power to improve the look of the space.
Whether you already have a bathmat or you don’t have one at all, adding one that fits the decor scheme and is made of a quality material can make quite the difference. Bathmats are some of the first things we see when entering a bathroom, and regardless of the space, adding this accessory can make it look more stylish.
Create an Accent Wall With Tile Sticker
If you still desire a dramatic transformation, instead of changing the tiles, you can use tile stickers to achieve any tile style you want. This is an inexpensive way to transform the bath without the need for a professional. All it takes is choosing the right design and that’s it. They’re available in different sizes, types and styles which gives you the freedom to replace them as you wish.
